SUMMARY:PLP in Production\, Day 2: Coastal Connections
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Connections continues with Day Two\, hosted again by Morehead City Library and made possible by Narrative Arts. Youth producers will return to downtown to record on-site at the History Museum of Carteret County and the White Rabbit Café\, an emerging third space whose whimsical atmosphere and welcoming vision make it a perfect fit for the project’s theme. \nThe afternoon will shift into studio time: scriptwriting\, audio editing\, narration recording\, and zine layout. Participants will reflect on what they’ve discovered about community\, connection\, and the places where we meet. \nStay tuned for a public showcase event—including the debut of the Coastal Connections special edition podcast presented on the EPIC Carteret platform\, a zine launch\, and a behind-the-scenes mini-documentary produced by local videographer Olivia Van Sickle. DESCRIPTION:Seating is at capacity for our afternoon of community and conversation to celebrate Coastal Connections\, a youth-produced podcast exploring third spaces in Carteret County. Members of the production team and local residents featured in the episode will share their reflections on the experience and how shared spaces\, from barber shops to museums to cafés\, support community building\, belonging\, and well-being. \nThe podcast itself will be available to stream two days before the event on August 20. This gathering focuses not on the production of the episode but on the stories it uncovered and how we might invest in third spaces as antidotes to isolation and engines of community health. \nThe event is free with very limited seating.
