Carteret County’s own small press Planck Length Publishing is now accepting short story submissions for its debut speculative fiction anthology Weird Tales from Waves End Retreat. Writers from across the multiverse (or just down the street) are invited to submit their strangest, most imaginative tales exploring the fictional NC barrier island trailer park of Waves End Retreat.
Stories should be between 1,000 and 6,000 words and submitted by July 31, 2025. Selected authors will be published in a beautifully designed print edition, which will be available in January 2026, and highlighted at the upcoming WeirdFest celebration on October 11, a one-day event of speculative storytelling, local lore, and otherworldly surprises.
We’ll be accepting cover art contest submissions for the anthology August 1 through 15, and we’re inviting visual artists to help shape the look of this flagship anthology. Whether you’re a storyteller or illustrator, now’s the time to stake your claim on Waves End.
