Transformation

We believe the best narratives create space for change, offering new ways to understand the world and our place in it. We celebrate literature that questions assumptions, bends genres, and illuminates alchemical ideas.

Empowerment

Empowerment

We believe in the storyteller’s traditional role as social gadfly, challenging authorized versions of the human epic and revealing unexplored plot lines. By championing diverse creators, we enrich the literary landscape for all.

CAST OF CHARACTERS

Autumn Ware, Creative Kingpin

A dangerous mix of logic and persuasion, Autumn leads Planck Length Publishing’s creative direction. She began her career in education as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and earned recognition as the 2010 NC English Teachers Association’s Outstanding English Teacher for her innovative use of instructional technology. Through her business Aware Copywriting, Autumn has collaborated with marketing agencies across North America and Europe, blending storytelling, strategic branding, and a magnetic style. She created the NC Arts Council grant-funded podcast EPIC Carteret to celebrate community engagement in her Crystal Coast home port.

This one time, Autumn adapted an Irish drinking song, passed down from her dear old granny, into a spirited anthem of the Star Wars planet Hoth and mastered the banjo well enough in three weeks to earn her comedic alter ego “Cthu-Lucille Ball” third place at the Krewe of Chewbacchus’ “Set Your Phasers to Stunning” Talent Show in New Orleans. Autumn prepares for any unexpected plot twists by honing diverse skills, including throwing knives, picking locks, and learning at least one essential phrase in every language.

Jack Ware, Chief Technomancer

Captain Jack Cutiepie leads Planck Length Publishing’s technological strategy, ensuring digital publishing, web development, and podcast production align with the company’s vision. A former Navy cryptologist from Cincinnati with decades of experience in Fortune 500 tech innovation, Jack played a valuable reporting role in the post-Katrina Silicon Bayou movement in New Orleans, and he is the co-producer and chief sound engineer of the EPIC Carteret podcast. His background in writing and music informs his creative approach to storytelling, digital engagement, and sound engineering.

Though he can tickle the ivories, squeeze the concertina, and once masterfully serenaded Autumn at the C-Note Bar in New Orleans, Jack’s true musical prowess shines as a saxophonist. He broke hearts in Athens, Ohio’s ska ensemble The Beatdowns in the 90s and in New Orleans’ Atomic Daddy-O in the 2000s. As captain of Punk Rock Boat, PLP’s nautical nerve center, Jack navigates the confluence of art and technology, steering the collective toward uncharted creative horizons.

Marjorie Peltier, Systems Sage

A strategist with an eye on the far future, Marjorie ensures PLP’s foundation is built for longevity and impact. A retired IBM “wild duck” with a reputation for pushing boundaries in business innovation, she specializes in long-term visioning and strategic sustainability. As a dedicated member of the Carteret Writers board and a Jungian, she brings a deep understanding of narrative, symbolism, and human motivation to the soul of PLP’s publishing vision. Marjorie’s systems savvy and storytelling instincts make her an essential force in guiding PLP’s evolution from idea to institution.

Marjorie has spent a lifetime turning chaos into clarity—whether advocating for activist movements, navigating corporate labyrinths, or mapping out long-term futures with uncanny precision. If you need a system streamlined or a new reality envisioned, she’s already ten steps ahead. But don’t worry; Marjorie is committed to ensuring everyone moves forward together. She’ll patiently wait for you to catch up and is always ready to lend a hand, guiding you through complexities with her expertise and support.

Melissa Kelley, Epic Editor

With her gift for uncovering hidden potential, Melissa ensures every story we share is as strong, true, and resonant as it can be. A former Marine Corps officer with decades of leadership experience, she brings a steady hand, a discerning eye, and a deep respect for each writer’s voice. As former President of Carteret Writers and a creative writing graduate student at Johns Hopkins, Melissa is passionate about building supportive communities where writers can grow, experiment, and thrive. Her nurturing editorial approach and sharp instincts are critical in shaping the future of PLP and EPIC Carteret Books—and helping every story find its best form.

While she can hold her own in a writing workshop or a literary salon, Melissa’s equally comfortable holding court at 30,000 feet in the backseat of a EA-6B Prowler—an electronic warfare aircraft. A former Marine Corps naval flight officer, Melissa earned her place among the airborne elite, our own grammatically astute Goose.* Whether navigating the chaos of an airborne mission or the quiet intricacies of a story edit, Melissa brings steady focus, sharp instincts, and a fearless sense of adventure to every page—and every project.

*Goose is a Top Gun reference for those too young to be in the know.

Our Vision: a rich literary ecosystem

The inspiration for our name comes from the concept of the Planck Length, the smallest fundamental unit of space, within which entire universes may theoretically exist. We see a small press in the same way—as a seemingly finite space that holds infinite possibilities. Just as the vast and the minuscule mirror each other, storytelling’s power lies in its ability to contain multitudes: different voices, perspectives, and realities, all coexisting and shaping one another.

By fostering an inclusive creative space, we honor the storyteller’s traditional authority to challenge assumptions, broaden understanding, and reveal unseen possibilities. We welcome the strange, the unheard, and the overlooked, knowing that our literary ecosystem thrives when it reflects the richness and complexity of the world around us.

Mission Statement: small press, infinite possibilities

Planck Length Publishing is a community-driven literary village committed to redefining the landscape of literature, philosophy, and inquiry. We aim to publish works that challenge conventional thinking, inspire curiosity, and encourage bold experimentation. Central to our ethos is a robust educational initiative designed to empower our members with industry knowledge and practical skills. Through collaborative workshops, peer-to-peer learning, and hands-on projects, we ensure that every participant not only contributes to our collective endeavors but also gains valuable experience in the publishing field. By embracing innovative practices and prioritizing accessibility, we cultivate a diverse spectrum of voices, ensuring that the speculative arts continue to evolve and resonate deeply within our broader global creative community.

We’re writing the future of storytelling.

Stories exist at the edge of the known, at the threshold of possibility. They whisper from forgotten corners, shape the world we live in, and chart the course for the world to come.

At PLP, we’ve got our eye on that horizon. We publish the audacious, the subversive, the necessary. We believe in stories that challenge, inspire, and galvanize.

Because every great shift begins with a story.
