Facilitated by Carteret County’s Planck Length Publishing and funded by Narrative Arts of Wilmington, Coastal Connections is a two-day creative media intensive hosted at the Morehead City Library and produced entirely by local youth, ages 13-21. This project explores third spaces—gathering places like parks, cafés, and barbershops—and how they help people build real connection in a digital age.

On Day One, our media producers will hit the streets of Downtown Morehead City to collect soundscapes, conduct interviews, and gather inspiration. Fieldwork will include a local service provider, a local park and pier, and a local restaurant, where they’ll record conversations and ambient sound during a working lunch.

This is a closed production day, but the work being created will be shared with the public later this summer through a podcast featured on the EPIC Carteret platform, a print zine, and a community showcase event. Follow along for updates!
