An Evening of Specters & Storytelling
Each January, Winter Hauntings transforms the darkest season into a celebration of talented local storytellers inspired by the often uncanny landscapes of Carteret County and performed by gifted actors with Carteret Community Theatre.
Talented Writers and Performers + Rapt Audiences
Tripling in audience size in one year thanks to an invitation to hold the event at Carteret Community Theatre’s temporary venue at Atlantic Station in Atlantic Beach, Winter Hauntings 2025 introduced talented local writers and performers to more than 100 enthusiastic local patrons.

Live Music & Local Flavors
Attendees at Winter Hauntings 2025 indulged in festive flavors, including mystically delicious mocktails by The Neigh Bar of Havelock and cookies from Morehead City’s Slice Bakery that vanished more quickly than a sasquatch evading a snapshot.

The pre-show “Skull-astic Book Fair” featured local authors, booksellers, and vendors, like Crystal Coast Ghost of Swansboro, while giving folks a chance to mix, mingle, and make new connections. Local musician John Carter performed haunting melodies throughout the evening, including two original ballads written with his wife EPIC Carteret host Emily Carter.
