WeirdFest

A celebration of speculative storytelling, outsider art, and Carteret County’s creative undercurrents.

Step into the multiverse for a one-day literary immersion into the strange, the unexpected, and the boldly bizarre.

WeirdFest is an open-world experience unfolding across Professor Hacker’s Lost Treasure Golf in Salter Path, NC. As you wander the grounds, you’ll earn your Interdimensional Traveler Certification by engaging with interactive Rift Activation Zones (RAZs), meeting cryptic characters, and contributing to the speculative lore of our coastline.

Every activity supports the publication of our first anthology Weird Tales from Waves End Retreat, featuring strange short stories by local authors and original cover art by one visionary eastern North Carolina artist.

WeirdFest is free to explore.

Zines, merch, and quest expansions are available for purchase—with all proceeds supporting weird local literature and outsider publishing.

Winter Hauntings

Winter Hauntings transforms the darkest season into a celebration of talented local storytellers inspired by the often uncanny landscapes of Carteret County and performed by gifted actors with Carteret Community Theatre.

Tripling in audience size in one year thanks to an invitation to hold the event at Carteret Community Theatre’s temporary venue at Atlantic Station in Atlantic Beach, Winter Hauntings 2025 introduced talented local writers and performers to more than 100 enthusiastic local patrons.
